Hello
everyone,
I am going
to touch on my experience with the ‘Journey of relaxation’ exercise. The first
time I started this exercise, maybe a minute or so in, my phone went off, oops,
that will not work. So, I gave it a try later that night, when my son was
asleep and I could turn of all distractions. I was surprised at how soothing
and relaxing the man’s voice was. It took a minute or two for my mind to slow
down and focus on what he was saying, but when it did, wow! I could not believe
how relaxed, heavy, and warm, my arms felt. Upon completing the exercise, I felt
relaxed, but refreshed. I could not believe the tension that was released in my
shoulders and down my arms. I have fibromyalgia, and this was the most
beneficial relaxation techniques, I have tried thus far.
Looking
forward to reading about your experiences with this exercise.
All the
best,
~Bridgett
Bridgett,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this relaxation exercise worked for you. I have an Aunt who has fibromyalgia and has a tough day to day experience because of it. Are there certain things that help you cope with this? I had a hard time being able to relax because my mind was racing from the days events and my mental check list of things to do. However it did relax me as well, in fact I am headed to bed after this post!
:) Kerri
Hi Keri,
ReplyDeleteHope you slept well! I am so sorry to hear about your Aunt, it does make day-to-day living difficult. I was recently diagnosed (6 months ago), and so I am still working out the kinks in dealing with it. In addition to the fibromyalgia, I have chronic back pain from an accident I was involved in. It has been a tough road, at this time I am working on training my mind to accept that this is my new ‘normal’ so it is not always in a state of action. I am working on replacing negative thoughts with positive ones and slowly learning new ways of doing things. I can completely understand about your mind racing from the events of the day; this is the first guided imagery exercise where my mind did not wander.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to posting, I hope your week is off to a great start.
All the best,
~Bridgett
Hi Bridgett,
ReplyDeleteFibromyalgia is rough. My mother and my Aunt both have it and I think I might have it a little too. Relaxation is supposed to help it quiet a bit. The women in my family seem to have a very hard time relaxing!! People have been trying to teach me meditation for years. Even my fiance' says that he's never seen someone who moves as much as I do even when I am sitting and trying to relax. I did enjoy our meditation exercise; I just have a heard time being still. I am hoping that down the road with practice, I will get better at it.
Have a great week!
